Dedicated Watchmaker per Piece
Your watch is assigned to a single person from intake to handover. There is no handoff between technicians, which means context is never lost and the same person answers your questions at collection.
Documented Intake Inspection
Before any tool touches the movement, the watchmaker writes a condition note and photographs the piece. You receive a copy and nothing proceeds without your awareness of what was found.
Timing Machine Records Shared
Every regulated movement is recorded on a timing machine and the results go to the owner as part of the service record. You know the rate your watch is keeping before you leave the workshop.
Reference Library for Older Calibres
Chronavault holds technical documentation and torque specifications for several hundred movements, including discontinued Swiss and Japanese calibres that commercial service centres are no longer equipped to handle.
In-House Parts Fabrication
When catalogue parts are unavailable, certain components can be made on-site. This capability matters for pre-war and mid-century pieces where sourcing alternatives would otherwise mean years of waiting or sending the watch abroad.
Case Work at the Right Depth
Refinishing is hand-done to match the watch's original character — not whatever standard finish the polishing machine produces. Re-brushing and polishing depth is discussed in advance, not assumed.

Vintage and complicated work in particular depends on experience that cannot be compressed into procedure. You develop an intuition for how a movement should feel under tension, and what drag on a pivot sounds like before it shows up on a timing machine. That kind of knowledge takes years.

Process
No surprises at any stage
Watchwork involves decisions that are difficult to anticipate from outside the movement. A pivot may be worn in a way that can't be seen until the calibre is disassembled. A replacement part may not be available from the usual supplier. Chronavault's process keeps the owner informed each time the situation changes.
The intake condition note serves as a baseline. Any variance from that — additional work needed, parts cost, revised timeline — is communicated before proceeding. You are not presented with a bill that reflects decisions made without your input.
Service
Straightforward, unhurried communication
Many owners of mechanical watches are not watchmakers. Chronavault makes a point of explaining clearly what is being done and why, without assuming technical knowledge. At intake, the watchmaker will describe what they expect to find and what the service involves.
At collection, the timing results are explained in plain terms. If there is a limitation — a calibre where a certain worn part cannot be replaced, for instance — that is stated directly rather than glossed over.

What sets us apart
Things that are difficult to replicate
Complication Work in Bangkok
Chronograph, perpetual calendar, and moon-phase overhaul is available on-site. There are very few workshops in Thailand with this capability. Most owners have previously been directed to send pieces overseas.
Movement Reference Archive
The workshop maintains a physical and digital library of technical specifications for movements no longer supported by their original manufacturers. This is material that takes years to assemble and is not available online.
Collector-to-Collector Network
Through fourteen years in Bangkok's collector community, Chronavault has direct connections to parts sources and donor movements across the region — useful when standard supply channels have nothing to offer.
Service Records as Documentation
The condition report and timing records produced at Chronavault form part of the watch's provenance. For collectors, a documented service history from a specialist workshop has a different weight than a generic receipt.
Correct Lubricants for Each Calibre
Different movement types require different lubricant weights and formulations. Using a single lubricant across a workshop's entire service output is common — and shortens the interval before the next service is needed. Chronavault stocks manufacturer-specified variants.
Realistic Turnaround Discussions
Timelines are discussed honestly at intake based on the current queue, not set to whatever number sounds attractive. A piece that requires part sourcing or fabrication may take longer — and that is said at intake, not explained at collection.
